We totaled all of the profit we have ever received from Russian copies of CGE games; it is nearly €400,000 Euro. We have sent all of this money to help Ukraine.

We're happy to share with you that, after its long voyage across the ocean, the container carrying boxes of Expedition Leaders has safely arrived in our US warehouse.

This means that the first English copies of Lost Ruins of Arnak: Expedition Leaders should be starting to pop-up in stores around the US in mid January and early February – and some stores might have already received their copies! Make sure to keep an eye out ;)

A similar situation should be happening in Australia and New Zealand – our partners in those two countries should have recently received their first orders and the first expansions are starting to be available for sale.

What an interesting year! As we finally reach the end of 2021 and take a moment to catch our breath, we would like to wish you all happy holidays from the team at CGE! We're so grateful to be have been able to see you all at shows again and share our new titles with you.

This year, Gen Con, Essen Spiel, and Pax Unplugged attendees had a chance to try out a giant version of the newly re-launched Galaxy Trucker.

For really brave truckers, there is a free mini-expansion called Rough Roads that makes the game even harder and crazier. We're also currently working with our partners on many language translations, so keep an eye out for updates soon!

Between 10am and 2pm on Saturday, we’ll have six CGE team members located at key spots inside the Pennsylvania Convention Center at PAX Unplugged who represent the six unique leader characters in the Lost Ruins of Arnak: Expedition Leaders expansion. You’ll follow clues to discover the locations of those six leaders. Each one of them has a special item that works as a keyword.

Entering a keyword into this special Arnak scavenger hunt website will unlock a puzzle that you must solve to progress to the next character. Those who finish the hunt and solve at least one puzzle can enter our drawings for many cool prizes later in the day on Dec. 11th. The more puzzles you solve, the better prize you can win.

You might have seen that the expansion was first available at SPIEL’21 in both English and German languages. Expedition Leaders quickly became a bestseller of the show, alongside the new edition of Galaxy Trucker—for which we are grateful. It's no surprise that Essen Spiel'21 was a smaller show this year. The good news is that while there may have been fewer exhibitors and fewer attendees than in years past, the energy and enthusiasm we saw was anything but small. Throughout the convention, demo tables were bustling non-stop, and our hearts were full of happiness from seeing you all again!

This year attendees had a chance to try out a giant version of the newly re-launched Galaxy Trucker in the gallery between halls 2 and 4. It was hilarious watching everyone running around and scrambling to build their ships with large tiles, and people seemed to have a blast with it...

After successful Gen Con and Origins with our US colleagues, the European CGE team now heads towards Essen to attend SPIEL ’21. And we have a lot in stock for you so come check it out!

It’s been a successful year for the two 2020 CGE titles, Lost Ruins of Arnak and Under Falling Skies. Both games have received many recognitions around the world and their reception has been incredibly positive.

Recently, both games have been announced the winners of IGA, International Gamers Awards – Lost Ruins of Arnak in the Multiplayer category, and Under Falling Skies in the Solo category.

In addition to this, Lost Ruins of Arnak has been also nominated for the Dutch gaming award, De Nederlandse Spellenprijs, in the Expert category.

Castle TriCon 2021 Spring Edition is over, and it was a blast! Over two days, we welcomed almost 1,000 board gamers from over 50 countries.

There were over 400 entries in the Letter Hunt contest and over 70 entries in our Scavenger Hunt. Huge thanks to everyone for taking part, and congratulations to our lucky winners. The competition was tough!

The next reprint of the English version of Lost Ruins of Arnak will be landing in European stores throughout February. We expect the US stores to receive their shipments shortly after, in late February. More languages (French, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Dutch, ...) will follow in the weeks after.

The English copies of Under Falling Skies have just arrived in the US and should be landing in stores soon. Other languages (specifically Czech, Spanish, French, Italian, and Polish) along with more German and English will hit the market throughout March. Japanese games should arrive a month later in April.

We have some great news for those brave adventurers, who dare to explore the Lost Ruins of Arnak all alone. As promised, we bring you two free updates to spice up your solo adventures – a new difficulty level, and a set of rival objectives.

Rival Objectives

They add more interaction into your solo adventure. Each round, your rival plans a few objectives that would grant them extra points, and it's up to you to outrun them and fulfil them first.

Purple Actions

They provide a satisfying challenge even for the most experienced adventurers. Similarly as with the red tiles, choose how many to use and shuffle them into your rival's action stack, instead of the easy tiles.

UK Games Expo 2020, a free virtual show, begins Friday, August 21st. You might be interested in what’s new from CGE this season, and we have 2 brand new games prepared for release this fall! It seems so long ago. Back in 2016, Adrenaline by Filip Neduk, inspired by the first-person shooter computer games was published. The game combined area control, careful resource management, no dice and no mercy!

The expansion came two years later. Adrenaline: Team Play DLC added the possibility to play with up to 6 players, in 2 teams, with character-specific weapons and abilities. It also added a unique Adrenaline Rush system and streamlined gameplay.

This year we are working on something special. It's a solo game called Under Falling Skies. This game originated as a print & play game on BGG. In fact, it won the 2019 9-Card Nanogame P&P Design Contest!

At about that same time, we hired the designer to work on various projects at CGE. He brought Under Falling Skies to one of our playtesting events, and we liked it a lot!

Now we're developing an expanded version with high-quality components, new artwork, a variety of missions, and an extended campaign.

Starting today, Through the Ages includes official tournament support! It will allow our community to create and manage their own online tournaments directly from their CGE Account. Players will also be able to join an open declared tournament, invite particular people to join the battle and set their custom rules.

Together with the tournament support, we are launching the CGE Forum - a place where the tournaments can be discussed and where our players can get together and talk about their favourite cards, strategies and CGE games.

Did you notice that your Letter Jam cards have codes? Have you ever wondered what they're for? Would you like to add a bit more mystery and surprise to your game?

This companion app works as a scanner for Letter Jam cards. It prepares a secret word for every player around the table without anyone knowing any of the words! Once the game is over, the app reveals which words were chosen for each player.

We are back with an update regarding the Through the Ages: New Leaders and Wonders release date.

As you already know, because the original paper supplier went out of business (explained in our previous post), we had trouble matching the card backs from the expansion with the cards from the base game. Due to this, the expansion has been delayed.

However, we are pleased to say that with the cooperation of our printer, we have found a satisfactory combination of paper and varnish to achieve the intended look.

Our plan is to have the game available in March in Europe and in April/May in the USA.

We’re sorry to announce that we still have no concrete release date for Through the Ages: New Leaders and Wonders. The card printing problem that led to the original delay last month is more difficult to solve than we expected. As a result, we hope to have the game out by Spring of 2020, but we can’t be more specific.

The problem we are trying to solve is that the card backs for the expansion look different than the card backs for the base game. This means players can make out how many expansion military cards their opponents have, or see whether the next prepared event is from the expansion. This is not information players should have.

We apologize for the delay this is causing. We would not be postponing the game’s release, however, unless it was to ensure that every player of Through the Ages and its expansion has a good experience.

Thank you to all the fans who came by and played games, talked to us, or bought games to take home! This was one of our favorite Spiels ever. We enjoyed demoing Letter Jam and Sanctum, and we really loved everyone’s photos they entered into the #PlayLetterJam contest.

We're especially grateful for all the interest in Sanctum — which sold out! Geek Buzz voters took the game to 5^th on the charts during the show at one point and helped the game to end at 21^st place overall. We love this game, so we’re happy to see players seem to enjoy it too.

We’re sorry to announce that, despite our best efforts, we are unable to offer Through the Ages: New Leaders and Wonders for sale at Essen Spiel 2019.

Due to an error at the printer side, the card backs for the expansion are a different shade than the card backs for the base game. This is very unfortunate, especially with military cards that should remain secret.

In the meantime, if you haven’t already, you can try the expansion on the digital Through the Ages app. It’s already for sale now for iOS, Android, Steam, and GoG. Or you can come by our booth at Essen Spiel (Hall 1, F-145) for a digital demo.

We are facing an unusual phenomenon in the Codenames: Duet game.

On the double sided key card grid there are 3 words seen as black from the one side, where one of them is black for your co-op partner as well. The second black word is surprisingly green on your colleague's side of grid and the last one (the third one) is neutral, beige. It works same way on both sides.

The problem starts when you try to check it by turning the grid card from one side to another and all of the sudden you realize that all this doesn't work with your grid card! Moreover, it doesn't work for any of the key cards in your game actually...

You might know that this year CGE released Codenames XXL with plans for other XXL versions of the favorite Codenames family. You may like to know who came up with the original idea and who should be given credit for this.

Back in 2016, it was December 13^th, the CGE "Christmas" party was held and we invited all our colleagues, their families, our dear Czech partners and also manufacturer representatives. It was them who brought two super size Codenames boxes they made for this occasion, as a gift, after the huge success of Codenames that year when it won the Spiel des Jahres award.

We are very pleased by such a warm reception of the new Trapwords at Gen Con last week! We would now like to officially announce that Trapwords will become another new title for this year. We plan to release it for Essen Spiel'18 (25^th-28^th October) and then ship it over the ocean to our US friends as soon as possible. The recommended price will be $19.95/16.95 €.

The game is for 2 teams, divided into two approximately equivalent number of players and takes about 30 minutes to play. It was created together by a trio of promising new Czech authors, Jan Březina, Martin Hrabálek, and Michal Široký. Their lifelong love for board games and a two-year game development lead to creating Trapwords.

Today, we would like to inform you about the situation regarding counterfeit copies of Codenames that CGE has been looking into for a couple of months.

Counterfeit copies of Codenames include components of lower quality, misprints, or even some pieces missing. They harm both customers and the CGE brand as we are not able to guarantee the replacements since it's not really our game.

Unfortunately, this is still happening, so we felt it was time to help people avoid these fake versions.

It’s a great honor for our CGE digital team that the recently released Through the Ages won Reader’s Choice Game of the Year 2017. We are really happy and would like to thank all of the readers of Pocket Tactics and all of the players around the world.

Through the Ages was also a winner in two other categories: Card Game of the Year and Multiplayer Game of the Year - this also makes us very proud.

The bar has been set high for 2018, but we are ready to go. We are working really hard on the expansion for Through the Ages, where we would like to introduce you new leaders and wonders. We are also working on other digital games, such as Codenames, and the Steam version of TTA. So stay tuned.

Allow us to update you on the release of the Through the Ages app for Android and iOS, mainly answering the question: ”Why isn’t it available RIGHT NOW?!”

CGE digital completed the app a few days ago, but before we can put it up on the App Store it has to go through an approval process at Apple. This process usually takes up to two days (which we counted on in our schedule), but a short while ago, Apple decided to reject the app for minor problems. We had to change some things and the whole approval process started over.

Long story short: If everything goes smoothly (especially at Apple), we will release on both platforms today at 5 pm GMT. If not, only Android will go live and the iOS version later.

Gosh, where to start… What about the very beginning… Ten years ago, in 2007, CGE was founded and its first released board games under this brand were Galaxy Trucker by Vlaada Chvátil and League of Six by Vladimír Suchý.

Since the introduction of our new games (Adrenaline and Alchemists: The King's Golem) at Essen Spiel, the wheels of production and manufacturing have been moving at full speed.

Our new games are landing at our US based warehouse now and we will begin shipping them to our distribution partners starting this week. You should be able to find Adrenaline at your favorite hobby game store very soon, but pre-order it if you can to ensure you can grab a copy.

Meanwhile, in Europe, you should start to see the first English copies of these games starting 12^th December.

The nice memories we have from Gen Con 2016 outweigh the fatigue from the jet lag back in Czech Republic. It was such a great time to be there with you all, playing CGE classics, learning the new ones, chatting and having fun. All you who found the way to our room 121 to say "Hello" deserve a huge "Thank you!". We are already looking forward to next year, hopefully in a similar kind of cozy room, where you could find a space for playing our games.

We were amazed at how well our games were received, including our prototypes of Adrenaline (the FPS game without dice), and Alchemists: The King's Golem expansion.

Codenames: Pictures was also very popular, and anyone who picked up a copy at the show received a set of bonus cover tiles.

We are pleased to officially announce our first game for 2016 – Codenames: Pictures. This is a follow up to Codenames – our best-selling, Golden Geek Award and Spiel des Jahres winning 2015 title.

The game will be pre-released at Gen Con (CGE room 121, 4^th–7^th August). If you want to be sure you get a copy and become one of the very first owners of the game, you can use our pre-order form. As a bonus for this event, you will get five additional agent and bystander tiles, enabling you to play with the original Codenames grids.

The general release date is September 2016. It will also be available directly from CGE at Spiel in Essen in October.

As we promised last week, we have some more information about Codenames and it's different language versions!

Thanks to the success of the game, our international partners are interested in publishing the game in their language, so we can confirm that you will able to play Codenames in German (Heidelberger), Czech (MINDOK), Spanish (Devir) and Italian (Cranio Creations).

Due to popular demand, all the English copies of Codenames, which we publish ourselves have already gone to distributors and retailers, and we are planning the next print run.

More languages are being negotiated with our partners in other countries, so stay tuned. And who knows, it may happen that a version with a language everyone speaks will follow, too…

Dear Alchemists players,

As all true Alchemists explore and improve their knowledge, we continue to refine things for your enjoyment of the game. That´s why we want to inform you about an update of the Alchemists app algorithm.

Some ultra-clever Alchemists were able to decrypt the previous codes and use them to recognize one of the ingredients. Thus, they were able to cheat - which is not really fun. Ok, it could be fun for them but it is not quite fair, right? :)

The end of the year is close, and it was a great year for us, filled with a lot of firsts. A first Kickstarter, a first board game digital adaptation, and a first board game using a smart phone. All we can say that it was another fun year filled with trucking, playing and creating. Thanks for being a part of that.

We also created our first calendar for us, our partners and our friends. Then we realized that the calendar is actually really nice and there might also be a couple of people among our fans who would like to have it as well. So, if this includes you, feel free to download the print data.

We are happy to announce that Galaxy Trucker, the award-winning board game by Vlaada Chvátil, is now also available for Android devices and iPhone!

Our fans who visited Essen already know that Alchemists are being published in German and English language. But the rest of you, who couldn't be there with us, might be wondering if you should get the Alchemists as soon as you see it in store or you should wait for your language to get a chance. We're happy to say that most of our previous partners have shown interest in publishing the game in their language. For now, we can confirm that Alchemists will be available in many languages.

We are also discussing the possibility to publish the game in even more languages. We will let you know as soon as we have more info on that.

Not that we are keeping score, but the #1 question of the past few weeks has definitely been "When can I get my hands on Alchemists?" :)

We have good news for you. This week, a container with Alchemists and Dungeon Lords Kickstarter edition left our warehouse and is heading to North America. If there are no pirates on the way, the ship with our games should arrive on Dec 8^th.

To those of you in the EU - you will be able to get your hands on Alchemists even sooner. We're trying to get the games to you within a few weeks.

We hope that you've already managed to try at least half of all the new Essen games that you brought home with you :) Among which might also be Alchemists - our new game that uses a mobile app to help you mix potions in your lab. To our fellow Alchemists, the mighty academics who attended Spiel 14 in Essen:

We would like to address the issue that some of you have already noticed about our new game Alchemists. We are glad that the game got so much attention and was very popular, but we know that not everything is yet as great as it could be (and should be).

The +/- tokens that you place into the base screen to mark your potions are not the perfect size, although the game is still perfectly playable without it. Please see the picture below, which shows that you can put the tokens into the triangle quite well. We've tried it ourselves, and they shouldn't fall out of the screen, which is probably your main concern.

However, we are already having new, smaller tokens printed for you and we will be sending it out to you directly from the printer's.

Hey Essen attendees, board gamers and fans!

Essen is over and we are all safely back and ready to roll again. Before the dust settles, let us say a few words about this year's Spiel fair.

The first is definitely a big Thank you! What we experienced this year in Essen was beyond anything we could have imagined. We had a lot of faith in this year's main title, Alchemists, and we brought more copies to Essen than any other year, but still - they were sold out by the second day of the show! At the end of the show, almost all our titles were sold out, and this demand both surprised and pleased us. We put a lot of care into our games, and it is sooo nice to see you gamers appreciate that!

So thank you for being there with us and making this Essen a huge success.

Galaxy Trucker, the award-winning board game by Vlaada Chvátil, has finally landed on your iPad! Build space ships, dodge meteors, and fight off bad guys, all in a quest to be the trucker with the most cosmic credits at the end of the game.

This digital version can be played with up to three other players, either online or on one shared iPad. A turn-based building system designed especially for this app allows pass-and-play or asynchronous online play. We already announced that the new edition is ready for release at Spiel 2014 in Essen. Now, we would like to share some more details with you, and show you the upgraded graphics.

This Tash-Kalar edition will have higher-quality cardboard, upgraded graphic design of all the cardboard components and both the task and flare cards. We are also preparing an upgrade pack for those who already own Tash-Kalar, so you can have your Tash-Kalar all shiny and new :). This upgrade pack will be available in Essen, as well as the new edition of the base game and the Everfrost expansion.

First, let's have a look at the game board - the Arena itself. We added more of a 3D feeling to the arena and redesigned the board to add more details.

Dear board gamers!

As Spiel 2014 in Essen is getting nearer and nearer, your inquiries about our new games are more and more frequent :) We are happy about that, and therefore we've prepared for you a pre-order form, so you can ensure that you will be among the first people to get our games.

To pre-order, please complete the form. You can pick up any pre-ordered games in Essen before noon on Saturday at our booth: Hall 1, number 140. But if you are there on Thursday or Friday, please try and pick them up as soon as you can. After noon on Saturday, we cannot guarantee that the games will still be there!

We are happy to officially announce our new and intriguing game - Alchemists by Slovak game designer (and our dear colleague from our digital development team) Matúš Kotry.

In Alchemists, 2-4 players compete to discover the secrets of their mystical art. Mix magical ingredients into potions and drink them to determine their effects - or play it safe and test the concoction on a helpful assistant! Points can be earned in various ways, but most are earned by publishing theories - correct theories, that is - and therein lies the problem.

Like last year, we have 2 opposite booths (1-D-138 and 1-D-140) where we will explain, demo, and sell our games.

But this year we're going to have 1 more booth (1-A-104) where we're going to have our digital division. You will be able to try the digital versions of both Galaxy Trucker and another of our very popular board games that we're currently working on.

Moreover, we'll have a special board-gaming edition of Rubik's Futuro Cube that you can try and buy at the booth. We only have a limited supply of these, so we recommend you reserve a copy of the Cube.

Maybe you've noticed that at the request of our fans, we've published on our facebook fans page, the comic book created for the 5th Anniversary of Galaxy Trucker. On this page we also promised that the comic book will be available in every already published language on our website soon. It was a great success for us this year. All of the new games are published gradually by our foreign partners, the majority of the other language versions will be finished by the end of the year.

Even Tzolk'in: The Mayan Calendar is in first place on the chart of games from Essen 2012and our fans are certainly not idle as they have already translated the rulebook on their own, for example these Spanish and Hungarian translations of Tzolk'in and Italian translation of Goblins Inc.

Hello aspiring dungeon lords. The Festival Season is about to start in a few days, and we would like to announce the winners of our creative contest, so they can properly celebrate.

You sent dozens of ideas for new Special Event cards. After removing a few that didn’t match the criteria (i.e. were not nasty enough or referred to what happens in the “next season”), we had to go through quite a bunch of interesting cards and choose three to be included in the expansion.

CGE is proud to announce that our successful 2012 game Pictomania by Vlaada Chvátil was awarded by Wiener Spiele Akademie as Spiele Hit mit Freuden (Hit for playing with friends).

Congratulations to Vlaada to his double success in Austria this year, as his another game, Mage Knight, won Spiele Hit für Experten (Hit for experts) title; we are glad CGE could participate on developing and playtesting of this game for WizKids. Also congratulations to Pegasus who published german version of both games.

Those familiar with the Dungeon Lords game know that there are three events each year – pay day, taxes and a random special event. In the expansion (due for Essen 2012), there will be one more season, so we decided that two random special events happen each year. Of course, this just calls for more interesting and nasty Special Event Cards.

If you have a great idea for such a card, you can submit it to us. If we use your idea, we will thank you in the rulebook and send you a copy of the expansion once it is released.

Spiel des Jahres announced nominees for SdJ 2012. The same jury also released a list of recommended games from the titles released during this time period – roughly April 2011 to March 2012.

We’re happy to announce that Pictomania is one of the highly recommended titles.
