Are you ready for another busy Gen Con? We sure are, and we have a lot of cool things in store for you this year! Expect tons of games, demos, a treasure hunt, and many other fun surprises. Read on for all of the details…

This year you’ll find CGE at two different locations. As in recent years past, we have our main CGE room (#235-239), which is upstairs right above the Hall I entrance. That’s where you’ll find our full lineup of CGE games to buy (as well as selections from our German partners HeidelBÄR Games), demos galore, and a few unique additions this year. Our room is open longer than normal Exhibit Hall hours, from 9am to 9pm, Thursday through Saturday and 9am to 4pm on Sunday.

Additionally, we’ll have a dedicated Codenames booth (#1003) in the Exhibit Hall, where you can purchase copies of our Codenames family of games, demo (and pre-order) the upcoming Codenames App, and get other Codenames-related goodies.

All things Little Alchemists

Little Alchemists, our new family friendly potion crafting and deduction game based on the original Alchemists, will be officially launching at Gen Con! We’ll have a limited number of early copies available for sale at the show, so be sure to pre-order one for Gen Con pickup to guarantee your copy!

This year’s treasure hunt will also be Little Alchemists themed! Get ready to follow clues and solve puzzles for a chance to win prizes! The hunt will run from Thursday until Saturday, and each day we’ll draw lucky winners. Visit our room #235-239 to get started!

For younger Gen Con attendees, we’ll have special potion crafting surprises (and prizes) in our interactive alchemist's lab, too, so be sure to bring your family and little ones by the CGE room for potion making fun!

Demos and giant games galore

In the main CGE room, we’ll have ticketed demos of many of our games, including our upcoming Essen Release, SETI: Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, as well as Little Alchemists, Kutna Hora, Starship Captains, Galaxy Trucker, Lost Ruins of Arnak, and many more. Don’t have a ticket? No worries — we’ll have open gaming tables for some of our releases as well.

We’re expanding our range of giant sized games this year. In addition to Giant Galaxy Trucker and Giant Pictomania, we’re also bringing Giant Under Falling Skies to Gen Con for the first time. We’ll also have a giant version of Fish & Katz from HeidelBÄR Games, which promises to be absolutely paw-tastic (yes, it includes big plush kitty paws).

Speaking of our German partners HeidelBÄR Games…you can find many of their releases for demo and for sale in our room at Gen Con, too, including Fish & Katz, Sweet & Spicy, Hungry Monkey, Time Division, and more. Their newest card game, Snatch It!, is releasing at Gen Con as well (and you can also pre-order a copy for pickup)!

CGE Documentary at Gen Con Film Fest

In case you missed it, the Making Board Games CGE Documentary is an official selection of the Gen Con Film Festival! They’ll be screening the first two short episodes (essentially CGE’s origin story) at the fest — Thursday, August 1st at 8:30pm in The Westin: Capitol III room. Eleni recently won an Origins Award for her hard work in creating the documentary series. If you’re around, don’t forget to grab your free tickets!
